With the help of Plastic Free Gulf Coast, the Walter Anderson Museum of Art piloted no-cost water refilling stations to help eliminate single-use bottled waters at three different community festivals. This helped save thousands of bottles-worth of plastic waste! Festivalgoers appreciated the sustainable option, which also aligns with our mission of conservation.
We now work to reduce use of single-use plastics at all our events, like at our 2020 Islander PIGnic, which used plastic alternative containers and silverware to serve 150 attendees and family members chef-inspired meals of fire roasted pig, locally-sourced vegetables, and fresh baked breads. Plastic Free Gulf Coast has been instrumental in helping us source these alternatives and improve our practices!
