SUCCESS STORY

Coastal Mississippi

As an organization that promotes tourism to the three coastal counties of Mississippi, sustainability and environmental awareness are top-of-mind for Coastal Mississippi. The health of the region and its incredibly unique natural environment is vital to its prosperity and sustainability. In collaboration with Plastic Free Gulf Coast, Coastal Mississippi has been able to promote awareness of the importance of sustainability by providing reusable and biodegradable products (plates, cups, utensils) at meetings and events, along with information to raise awareness for alternative, plastic-free products.

Inspired by the Plastic Free Gulf Coast initiative, Coastal Mississippi has also shifted its merchandising efforts toward a sustainable-first approach, with the majority of branded items now falling into the eco-friendly category. These items include washable kraft paper totes, metal straw kits, and recycled wheat straw tumblers.

Coastal Mississippi continues to promote sustainability through its digital presence, highlighting its importance through its social media channels, blog (such as Going Green Testimonials), and Coastal Testimonials series.
